Abstract

1,238,634. Knitting. WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. 19 Feb., 1969, No. 9013/69. Headings D1C and DIK. A single cylinder circular machine is equipped with a semi-circular welt dial pivotable about a horizontal axis for transferring loops, held by instruments 8, 9 from one side of the cylinder to the other during knitting of a closed toe. Instrument of a co-operating pair are slidable in spaced tricks. To knit a closed toe high butt instruments 8 are projected to receive yarn, and are withdrawn together with instruments 9 after a few reciprocatory courses. After knitting a fashioned reciprocatory toe the dial is swung through 180‹ and the held loops transferred across the cylinder. When the instruments are to be withdrawn cans acting on the opposite high butts 14 withdraw instruments 8 first. Pairs of instruments may be mounted in parallel generally radial slots or one longitudinally divided slot. Alternatively pairs of right and left hand instruments of one type in a single slot may alternate with pairs of the other type.
