Abstract

1,260,114. Valves. ELLIOTT & GARROOD Ltd. 13 Jan., 1969 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 3366/68. Heading F2V. A valve comprises two body parts 10 and 11, and a plate 32 slidably located between seals 31, 32, e.g. of a solid or foamed elastomer, disposed respectively in each body part. The plate has an opening 45, within a removable cover 21, by which it can be actuated and removed from the valve. When the plate is removed, the seals 31, 32 close on to each other to seal passageway 12, 13. The seals have bores 35, 36 connecting with passageways 41, 42 respectively so that fluid from the passageway 12, 13 can be passed to the plate face to seal and lubricate it. Alternatively, the bores 41, 42 can be blocked, and a sealant can be supplied to the bores 39, 40. The plate may be apertured to control flow. In Fig. 4, not shown, seals (52), (53) have lips which seal on to plate 32.
