Abstract

1,010,118. Valves. LINCOLN VALVES Ltd. Nov. 7, 1963 [Nov. 9, 1962], No. 42459/62. Heading F2V. A butterfly closure 10 co-operates with either one of two resilient annular seals 12, 14, e.g. of stainless steel, each comprising a base part 20, a mounting lip 22 connected thereto and a sealing strip 24 with a support portion 26 leading therefrom; each seal forms an unclosed triangle in cross-section. When the closure sits on seal 12, upstream fluid acts in the space between parts 20, 24 and urges the latter against the closure. If the closure 10 contacts seal 14 then upstream fluid acts between the strip 20a and surface 8 to force the whole seal inwardly so that part 24a comes into contact with the closure 10. The mounting lips 22 co-operate with gaskets 16.
