Abstract

1,259,672. Bearings. KAMAN AEROSPACE CORP. 2 Jan., 1969, No. 312/69. Heading F2A. In a self-lubricated bearing, the surface of one member 16 is made at least in part of a solid inorganic lubricant material, and the surface of the other member 12 is provided by a layer 0À0005-0À01 inch thick of a ceramic material 20 comprising aluminium oxide, chromium oxide, titanium dioxide, tungsten carbide, or titanium carbide on a metallic substrate 18 having a tensile strength of 35,000-250,000 p.s.i. The inorganic lubricant material is a compacted mixture of amorphous carbon and graphite impregnated with silver or antimony. The metal substrate is titanium, a titanium alloy, stainless steel, aluminium, or an aluminium alloy.
