Abstract

125,775. Vickers, Ltd., and Spencer, R. P. April 27, 1918. Exhaust-silencers. - In a silencer for aircraft or other engines, the exhaust issues with a whirling motion and mixes with a surrounding stream of air. The exhaust passes into a tapered inner tube A open at the end B and formed with helically-arranged slots C, adjacent to which are curved deflectors D carried by an outer air conduit. The air and exhaust move in paths indicated by arrows I, H respectively.
