Abstract

1,257,089. Lamps. ESQUIRE Inc. 24 Nov., 1969 [10 April, 1969], No. 57445/69. Heading F4R. A floodlamp comprises a housing forming a lamp compartment 18 having a window 20 in each of a pair of opposite side walls, a lamp 25 mounted in a socket 24 on an intermediate side wall so as to extend horizontally between the windows, a first reflector 30 disposed above the lamp and composed of two portions 31 which curve inwardly and downwardly from the respective windows and intersect in a line 32 vertically above and parallel to the axis of the lamp, and a second reflector 33 disposed below the lamp, the ends of the second reflector being near the windows and the side portions 35 curving downwardly and inwardly to a flat centre portion 34. The portions 31 of the first reflector may be of parabolic form. The housing may include a second lamp compartment 19 situated below the first compartment 18 and provided with a window 23 in its bottom wall instead of a second reflector, and one or more further compartments vertically stacked above the first compartment and similar to it, the side windows of neighbouring compartments being circumferentially staggered. The non-electrical end of each lamp has a protuberance (26) seated in an asbestos-lined socket 29 mounted on a door 28 in an opaque wall of the respective compartment, the doorway being of sufficient size to permit the lamp to pass.
