Abstract
1,257,021. I.C. engine fuel injectors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Jan. 21, 1969 [Jan. 2, 1968], No.225/68. Heading F1B. An injection nozzle 11 suitable for mounting in an I.C. engine intake manifold (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises a ball or poppet valve 14 to be opened by fuel pressure pulses and a part 15 enclosing the discharge end of the valve and defining therewith a chamber 16. The part 15 has an air inlet opening or openings 21 through which atmospheric pressure air or air from an enginedriven positive displacement pump flows to the chamber 16. Mixture flows from the chamber through one or more restricted outlet holes 17 and a tubular extension 18 of the part 15. The part 15 is screw-threaded at 22 for insertion into an insulating bush in the manifold or directly into the manifold.
