A coaxial cable has an insulated centre conductor enclosed within a tubular outer conductor, the outer conductor being formed of a longitudinally rolled metal tape, the tape having transverse corrugations at an angle to the centre line of the tape so that when the tape is rolled into a tube with its longitudinal edges forming a butt joint the corrugations form a helical groove, and a wire wound helically and continuously in the helical groove. The outer conductor may be formed from a copper tape. The wire may be made of iron, and may be tensioned by being wound on whilst hot.
