Abstract

1,255,926. Inductive signalling. COVENTRY, CORPORATION OF. 11 Feb., 1969 [23 Nov., 1967], No. 53383/67. Heading H4U. In an inductive signalling system wherein a loop ABCDEF extends around a classroom or the like, Fig. 1, the wires ABC and DEF are of higher specific resistance than the cross-wires AF, CD and the connection BE to a microphone amplifier, the resistance per unit length of the cross-wires being about one tenth of that of the wires ABC, DEF. The current in loop BAFE is proportional to the distance BC = ED and the current in loop BCDE is proportional to the distance AB = FE. It is stated that this reduces interference with adjacent loops in the direction XX and to some extent perpendicular to XX. The position of the connections B, E is adjusted to suit working conditions. Two complementary loop arrangements of the type described may be placed together as shown in Fig. 2, to provide a further reduction in interference and may be connected so that points E and B<SP>1</SP> are connected to one amplifier terminal and points E<SP>1</SP> and B to the other.
