Abstract

1,255,240. Rolling. ANACONDA AMERICAN BRASS CO. 18 Nov., 1969, No. 56259/69. Heading B3M. A reduced marginal edge is produced along a metal strip 10 by rolling the strip between a pair of rolls 11, 12, one of which has an enlarged diameter portion 16 under which the strip is caused to flow transversely. The strip is positioned by guides (13), (14), Fig. 1 (not shown), to align one edge with a collar 20 on the lower roll. The other edge of the strip is spaced from the other collar 19 and caused to flow into abutment with the collar by the rolling pressure. The strip may be a copper or phosphor-bronze alloy.
