Abstract

1,254,504. Liquid cutting composition. SNAM PROGETTI S.p.A. 24 Jan., 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 4287/69. Heading C5F. A liquid cutting composition comprises a water miscible liquid and dissolved therein an ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of both a hyposulphite and a molybdate. The water miscible liquid may be a monohydric alcohol, a glycol or a polyhydric alcohol. Optional components are ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulphites, borates, acetates, and nitrites. Examples describe ethylene glycol solutions containing ammonium molybdate, sodium hypophosphite, borax and sodium nitrite in amounts up to 5 wt. per cent, optionally diluted with water.
