A machine for treating seeds, e.g. wheat, corn, oats, flax and sugar beet seeds, with a liquid seed-treating chemical, e.g. an insecticide or fungicide, prior to planting comprises a seed distribution cone 3, a rotating mist disc 4 for radially scattering the chemical, supplied by a pipe 12, on to a seed curtain falling from around the edge of the cone 3, and a seed distributing arrangement consisting of a plurality of concentric cylinders 8, 9, 10 extending to different heights, the lower end of the innermost cylinder being arranged sufficiently closer to the cone 3 to cause a steady even flow of seed at a relatively low intake of seed from supply hopper 1, while larger intake of seed cause the seed to overflow into the spaces between the cylinders to give a progressively increasing flow of seed, the seed falling between the cylinders being deflected into the curtain falling from the edge of the cone by a tapering ring 11. The width of the slot between cylinder 8 and cone 3 is preferably about 10mm, and the annular gaps between the cylinders are each about 20 mm.
