Abstract

1,254,066. Remanent relays. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 12 March, 1969 [20 March, 1968], No. 13032/69. Heading H1N A remanent relay has two sealed magnetic reed contact units 2, 3 mounted within a coil 1 on opposite sides of a remanent magnet 6 and each contact unit is disposed adjacent and parallel to a: respective permanent magnet 4, 5. Soft iron members 7, 8 concentrate the coil flux to ensure reversal of remanent magnetism in the member 6, each time the coil is appropriately pulsed. As shown, the permenent magnets 4, 5 are polarized in opposite directions so that one contact unit is closed when the other is open but the magnets may be polarized in the same direction so that the contacts open and close together.
