Abstract
1,253,991. Fuelling reactors. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 1 April, 1969 [5 April, 1968; 17 Jan., 1969], Nos. 16644/68 and 2981/69. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor installation having a water pond 2, mounted above the reactor 1, the tubes 3, containing nuclear fuel, may be refuelled through the tube extensions 6. The latter extend from the base of the pond 2, to the upper end of tubes 3, to which they are joined at the sliding seal 7. Coolant leaves the tubes 3, by the branches 4 and the spherical plug valve 8 is actuated during refuelling.
