Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A grommet or bushing fitting into an aperture in a panel holds and protects an elongate member e.g. an electrical conductor passing therethrough and is held to the panel itself by a flexible link member. As shown, a conventional strain-relief bushing comprising male and female body portions 1 and 2 is connected by a flexible hinge 3 so that the portions 1 and 2 may be folded together and inserted in the aperture in the panel. A flexible elongate link member 5 is connected at one end to the body portion 2 and the other end of the link member 5 is formed as a circular enlargement 6 carrying an anchor 7 which fits into a further aperture in the panel when in use. The device may be formed from a synthetic plastics material e.g. nylon. In alternative forms the link 5 may be integral with the male body portion 1 or the hinge 3 or it may be formed as a separate member attached or attachable to the bushing. The anchor 7 may be solid or skeletal, it may be conical instead of flat or it may be replaced by an anchor of spherical or other configuration which will snap into an associated aperture in the panel. The link may be secured to the panel by bonding instead of with an anchor.
