Abstract

1,253,273. Delivering Sheets, EASTMAN KODAK CO. 20 Jan., 1969 [29 Jan., 1968], No. 3204/69. Heading B8R. A pair of superimposed sheets R and C one of which, (R), is slightly in advance of the other, Fig. 3, are separated as they emerge from the nip of rollers 11 and 12 by a member 41 which is pivoted about point 42 by a cam 44 first to engage the exposed advanced portion of sheet R and then to engage the leading edge of sheet C, Fig. 4. The separator may form part of a copying machine, Fig. 1, in which an image on a carrier sheet C is transferred as a latent image to a receiver sheet R by passage of the superimposed sheets between a heated roller 10 and a pressure roller 12. The separated sheet R is brought into contact with a repeatedly useable developer sheet D in the nip between rollers 11 and 12. Sheet D is released from a stop 36 to reach the nip with its leading edge slighly in advance of the sheet R. A separating member 51 is pivoted about a point 52 by a cam 46 to separate sheets D and R in the manner described for sheets R and C. Sheet D is returned to its starting position against stop 36 by way of a passage 34 between guides 32 and 33.
