Abstract

1,252,458. Valves. SEA BIRD (CLEAN AIR FUEL SYSTEMS) Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [14 June, 1968], No. 28385/68. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] Valve particularly for supplying liquefied petroleum gas (l.p.g.) to an I.C. or diesel engine of a vehicle, comprises a chamber 11 of which the inlet is controlled by a valve member 12, the outlet 19, 20 being for connection to the air intake manifold. A diaphragm 14 in an auxiliary chamber operates the valve e.g. through lever 15. A pipe 18 from the diaphragm chamber extends into the outlet throat 19 to establish a control pressure in the chamber. The inlet 12 opens from a preliminary chamber 1 supplied at about six atmospheres through a valve opened by a rocker arm 8 when the pressure in chamber 1 drops below say 0À7 atmospheres and depresses a pin 9 carried by a pressure plate 10 bearing on a diaphragm 6. The chamber 1 is heated by water from the vehicle cooling system supplied to a labyrinth 3. Diaphragm 4 is protected from the heat by a plate 7.
