Abstract
1,251,374. Frequency measuring. INVICTA PLASTICS Ltd. 9 May, 1969 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 6453/68. Heading H3A. [Also in Division G1] A transducer 1<SP>1</SP>, produces a train of pulses, of which the frequency is proportional to the speed of a vehicle, to an audible and/or visible warning means which is actuated in the event of the vehicle reaching a predetermined speed. The pulse train is fed through an inverting amplifier 4 to a gate 6 which emits a pulse when the pulse train from the inverting amplifier is coincident with that from a monostable circuit 5 of which the pulse frequency is preset to represent the speed at which a warning signal is given to the driver of the vehicle. Each pulse from the gate 6 is lengthened to a duration of one second by a monostable circuit 7 and passed to a delay device which produces a slowly decaying signal so that the transistor switch circuit 8 is held on continuously for output pulses from the gate having less than a one second interval between each pulse. The switch circuit actuates a loudspeaker. Alternatively a transducer 1 may produce an A.C. signal which is converted to a D.C. square wave by an amplifier and Schmitt trigger circuit. A detailed circuit diagram is given in Fig. 3 (not shown). The transducer 1<SP>1</SP> may be a reed switch actuated by a rotatable magnet or as illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown) a transducer 1 of a generally-known pick-up coil construction may be used.
