In a system for determining whether the frequency of an input train of pulses is above or below a reference frequency, relatively highfrequency clock pulses are counted for the period between two pulses of the input pulse train, and an output signal is produced in accordance with whether the count is above or below a reference count. The system is arranged that after a short delay the counter is zeroized and a further cycle effected.
