PURPOSE:To improve the responsiveness of a speed detecting circuit for a motor and to enable the control of the speed of the motor in good responsiveness by counting the pulse pickup output on the basis of the clock pulse of a microcomputer and detecting the speed of the motor. CONSTITUTION:The output pulse rise signal of a pulse pickup is inputted to a terminal B at the time t1, and is inputted through a converter 1a and a NOT circuit 5 to a synchronizer 6b. The synchronizer 6b inputs a clock pulse inputted form the terminal A through a NOT circuit 4 and outputs a clear signal to binary up counters 14-17 at the time t2 in synchronization with the clock pulse to clear the counters 14-17. The fall signal of the output pulse of the pulse pickup is inputted to a terminal B at the time t4, and is inputted to the synchronizer 6a through the NOT circuit 4. Then, a latch signal is outputted to an inverting AND circuit 11 in synchronization with the clock pulse at the time t5. In this manner the clock pulses are counted in the half period of the output pulse of the pulse pickup.
