Abstract

1455392 Frequency demodulation SIEMENS AG 25 April 1974 [30 April 1973] 18048/74 Heading H3A In a modulator for a FSK signal B1, B2 of the type in which a counter Z counts pulses from a clock generator GEN for periods determined by first and second flanks of pulses of the signal to be demodulated, the counter reaches a maximum count and is reset a number of times during a count period; the digital output of the counter is connected to a digital/analogue converter DIG/A by gates G1, G2, G3 opened at the second flank; and the output of the converter is connected via a lowpass filter TP to a threshold stage ScH. The maximum count of the counter is selected such that the residual count at the arrival of the second flank differs for the different frequencies to be detected, so that the resulting analogue signal will have a value dependent on the input frequency. The circuit of Fig. 3 operates in one half cycle of the input only, but in an alternative form the units preceding the filter may be duplicated to give operation on both half cycles, Fig. 5 (not shown).
