Abstract

[Also in Divisions E1 and F2] A ventilation system for a building comprises a central air treatment plant 3, a manifold duct 4 to which are connected a plurality of distribution ducts 5, each duct 5 having an outlet opening 6 below each floor controlled by a closure member 7, only one opening 6 in each duct being open at any time. The system also includes a corresponding duct system 2 for conveying air for recirculation. Each opening 6 has the same cross-sectional area as the corresponding duct 5. Cold and hot air may be conveyed through different ducts 5. The ducts 5 which are made of a plastics material are collectively covered with a concrete jacket. Alternatively, the tube construction is made as a prefabricated wall element, and separate connecting pieces which include the openings 6 are provided. The ducts 5 may act as supports for the ceilings of the building.
