Abstract

1.249,219. Electrostatic printing. RANK XEROX Ltd. 3 March, 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 11207/69. Heading B6C. A fixed, xerographic toner image on a support is heated and pressed against a transfer member; the support and transfer member then being separated whereby toner is transferred to the latter. Typically, the support and transfer member are contacted and passed between a pair of rollers, one of which is transparent and contains an infrared source. Preferred materials for the support are listed; polystyrene being particularly preferred. By using a hydrophobic toner and a hydrophilic transfer member, the transferred image may be inked and used as a lithographic master.
