Abstract
1,249,108. Printed circuit assemblies. ELEC. TROSIL Ltd. 31 Dec., 1968 [2 Oct., 1967; 30 April, 1968], Nos. 44823/67 and 20515/68. Heading H1R. Cylindrical resistors and/or capacitors are each disposed in a hole 12 extending through a double-sided printed circuit board 11, electrically conductive bands or areas 5, 6 extending partially or wholly round each end portion of the capacitor and/or resistor being electrically connected to the printed wiring on each side of the board. The printed circuit board 11 may be formed of high alumina ceramic or glass and is formed with a matrix of holes 12 and a conductive pattern 14 screen printed on the upper and lower surfaces which pattern includes rings 13 surrounding certain of the holes 12. The cylindrical components together with solderable connecting pieces of the same dimensions as the resistors and terminal leads which are made with one end formed to the same dimensions as the resistors and the other end comprising a termination wire are each disposed in one of the holes and the assembly soldered to form a seal between the rings 13 and bands 5, 6. The assembly may be encapsulated and a second printed circuit board may be mounted above the first board on extensions of the connecting pieces and terminal leads, Fig. 4 (not shown).
