Abstract

1,248,958. Valves. JAS. YOUNG & CUNNINGHAM (NEWCASTLE) Ltd. 4 Dec., 1969 [18 Dec., 1968], No. 60074/68. Heading F2V. A quick-closing sluice valve comprises a collar 18 secured to an operating spindle 14 with at least one wing 20 extending through a slot in the valve head 13, the wing being maintained in position by a lever 21 pivotally mounted above the slot, against the action of a closing spring 17. In the embodiment, the collar 18 has two diametrically opposed wings 20, each engaging a lever 21, the lever being joined by a bar 21a which can be moved by a remote cable, or a pneumatic/hydraulic cylinder.
