A machine tool for use with flexible, non- rotating metallic bar stock 3, in which workpieces 11 are cut from the leading end after machining, said machine tool comprising a device 2 for straightening stock drawn from a reel, a reciprocating gripper device 4 for feeding the stock, and at least one rotating tool head, e.g. as indicated at 12, 12a. A cam 10 lifts a spring clamp 4a from the stock during the return stroke of the device 4. Other tools may be provided; milling cutter 13, tool spindle 16 or a head carrying a number of spindles. The tools are operated in synchronism by a camshaft 23. Tool spindle 16 is fed by a cam 19.
