Abstract

1,246,985. Counting apparatus. VEEDER INDUSTRIES Inc. 13 Dec., 1968 [15 Dec., 1967], No. 52504/69. Heading G4D. [Also in Divi ions A4 and F2] The flowmeter of a fluid dispenser drives a stepped cone gear 26, Fig. 1, engaging range arms settable on a selected step via shaft 48 to drive rotary variator portions 30-32 (31 not being shown) the outputs of which are fed via differentials 36, 38 to a register in accord with the set cost per unit volume to three decimal places, at least one of the variator portions having means, e.g. 212 on output shaft 72, whereby the output may be added to or subtracted from the sum of the outputs from the other variator portions. An arm 212, Fig. 2, pivoting on output shaft 72 carrying gear 214 has this gear meshing with gear 218 and a train of two gears 220, 222 on the arm. The arm is pivotable to engage either gear 218 or 220 with differential 36 whereby the differential gear 215 is rotated in one direction or the other from shaft 72, the pivoting occurring via a pin and slot linkage 236, 234 with springs 238, 248 and a cam following lever 230 engageable with a cam 240 adjustable at 268 on a plate 264 rotated by the price-setting shaft 48.
