Abstract
1,261,406. Gas meters. AMERICAN METER CO. April 30, 1969, No. 22009/69. Heading G1R. In a gas flow meter reading connection device in which a shaft 4 operates a counter b and, through gears 16, 18 and pinions 20, 22, drives a shaft 12, the connections for pressure and temperature variations are effected by an infinitely variable ratio drive mechanism 14 which drives a counter 28 and a printing counter 34 indicating the connected volume at the normal temperature, and pressure. The mechanism 14 operates in the following manner. The shaft 12 drives a roller 168 which in turn drives a ring 178 the perimeter of which ring 178 is bevelled internally and externally and is in driving engagement between the roller 168 and a face 204 of a rotatable drum 200, which face 204 is in driving engagement with a ring 188 and a roller 182 to drive a shaft 26 to operate the counters 28, 34. The temperature compensation is effected by a Bourdon tube 38 to move, through a lever mechanism, a lever 70, provided with a slot 176 engaging the ring 178, to move the ring 178 along the drum 168 to alter the speed of the drum 200 and the pressure variation is compensated by a Bourdon tube 98, coupled 40 the gas supply to the meter 2, moving, through a linkage mechanism, a lever 134, similar to lever 70 to vary the radical position on the drum 200 of the ring 188. The face 204 of the drum 200 may be conical and the axis of the shafts 42, 26 arranged parallel to such face.
