Abstract
1402911 Petrol pumps DRESSER EUROPE SA 17 April 1973 [17 April 1972] 17742/72 Heading A4T A liquid fuel dispensing pump 1 which blends two base grades of liquid fuel comprises an electric reset motor (46) adapted to reset indicating drums to zero when an actuator 3 is operated upon removal of a nozzle 2 from the pump housing, an interlock shaft 27 for switching on and off a computer controlling the indicating drums, and coupling means 21, 23, 26 operated by the reset motor in order to rotate the interlock shaft to thereby switch on the computer. When the nozzle is inserted into the pump housing the nozzle engages a link 6 which via a plate 8 rotates a reset shaft 9 against the action of a spring 5 to the position shown in Fig. 2. The petrol blend is selected by a knob 43 which, if not correctly set, causes an interlock plate 16 to be moved into such a position that the shaft 9 cannot be rotated to start the pump when the nozzle is withdrawn. In operation, the knob is set to the desired blend and the nozzle removed from the housing thereby allowing the shaft 9 to be rotated by the spring 5. Rotation of the shaft, via a crank (44) Fig. 3 (not shown), operates a switch (45) which energizes a reset motor (46). Rotation of the motor rotates gears (48) 20 thereby resetting the indicator drums to zero. After a half revolution of the gear 20, a switch (51) is operated thereby starting the pump motor. A cam 21, Fig. 4, is mounted on the gear 20 so that during said half revolution a lever 23 is operated rotates a shaft 27 via a crank 26 and pin-and slot device; such rotation of the shaft 27 switches on the computer. The lever is locked in this position by means of a spring-loaded latch 29, 29a. When the nozzle is re-inserted into the housing, the shaft 9 is rotated causing a crank 34, Fig. 4, to contact an arm 29b on the latch 29 thereby releasing the latter so that the lever 23 moves under the action of the spring 28 to rotate the shaft 27.
