Abstract

1,083,735. Counter zeroizing arrangements. VEEDER INDUSTRIES Inc. Dec. 7, 1964 [Dec. 6, 1963], No. 49804/64. Heading G4D. A resetting control mechanism for apparatus, e.g. a petrol pump having a resettable counting mechanism comprises a sequencing link 140, means actuating the link from its inactive position (as shown) to its active position, Fig. 9 (not shown) after predetermined operation of a resetting element 72, control means operable with the link in its active position for discontinuing the operation of the resetting element and for actuating the apparatus, and manually operable means for returning the link to its inactive position. As illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown), when the nozzle 12 is removed from its receptacle, a handle (86) is turned clockwise, rotates control shaft 84 and control cam 90 from the OFF to the ON position, thus rocking a lever 104 to actuate a switch 106 and energize a driving motor. The motor drives through gearing and ratchet pawl 130 an intermediate shaft 118 which is connected to a reset drive shaft 72 via gears, thereby resetting the pump register (18) (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). Link 140 is displaced downwardly by rotation of cam 132 carried by shaft 118, and when the link is fully extended, the ratchet drive is declutched, thereby terminating the drive. Pins 166, 168 on the link extension 164 are received within slots formed respectively in a pump motor operating lever 170 and a valve operating lever 172. With the pump motor operating and valve 177 open, fuel is delivered and the register (18) suitably driven. When the delivery is complete and prior to restoring the nozzle 12 to its receptacle, the handle (86) is turned anticlockwise which rotates cam 90 and withdraws switch operating lever 104 to release switch 106, and subsequently releases the pump operating lever 170 enabling link 140 to return to its inactive position. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown) the mechanism provides remote control of the reset as by a single-pole, double-throw switch (220).
