Abstract

1307138 Fluid dispensing apparatus VEEDER INDUSTRIES INC 8 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41880/71 Heading A4T Electrically operated means for conditioning a fuel dispenser for delivering fuel comprises a cost-volume register 14, Fig. 1, resettable via shaft 64 by handle 72 on removing nozzle 26 to energize reset motor 75 within explosion proof housing 60, the motor rotating one revolution for resetting and via control mechanism 70 switching off motor 75, and turning on pump motor 24. A volume pulser 92 and cost pulse 94 operated via a shaft to 96, 98 from the output 30 of meter 25 and output 34 from variator 32 respectively send pulses to a second register 18 resettable at 150, which register may be remote from the dispenser and indicate a continuous total volume and cost. On resetting the register 14, means are provided for resetting the pulser rotary magnets 104, Fig.2 perpendicular to reed switches 106 which close to send a pulse mid-way between each unit of volume or cost when the magnets align with the reed switches. The magnets are rotated by gear 104 meshing with gear 102 loose on shafts 96, 98 and connected via idle gears 108 to gears 100 fixed on shafts 96, 98. The idle gears are carried on cranked levers 110, 112 pivoted at 114 and loaded at 120, 121 to engage gears 100. Pivoted at 114 is a magnet reset lever 130 which engages, against spring 140, reset cams 126 secured to gears 102. On rotation of reset shaft 64 cams 142, 144 thereon shift idle gears out of mesh and move the ends of lever 130 into engagement with cams 126 which rotate gears 102 on shafts 96, 98 to set magnets 104 perpendicular to the length of the reed switch. Further rotation of reset shaft 64 withdraws lever 130 from the cams as the idler gears reconnect gears 100, 102. (For Figures see next page)
