Abstract
1,246,881. Piezoelectric compositions. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. 8 Jan., 1969 [8 Jan., 1968; 29 Jan., 1968; 20 Feb., 1968; 27 Feb., 1968], No. 1135/69. Heading CIJ. Ferroelectric-piezoelectric ceramics comprise a solid solution of the components Pb- (In ¢ Nb ¢ )O 3 , PbTiO 3 and optionally Pb- (Zr 1-u Sn u )O 3 , wherein u has a value of 0 to 1, in amounts within the area ABCDEFGH. The ceramics are made by sintering a mixture of the oxides, or compounds decomposable to the oxides, of In, Nb, Ti, Zr and Sn in an atmosphere of lead oxide vapour. Up to 2À5 atom per cent of the Pb can be replaced by Sr, Ca or Ba.
