Abstract

1,246,587. Mowing. VICTA Ltd. 9 Feb., 1970 [17 Feb., 1969], No. 6007/70. Heading A1F. A device for discharging grass cuttings from a rotary mower baseplate in a substantially horizontal direction to one side of the mower comprises a channelled wall 15 having a curved length, an entry port 12 at one end of the wall, releasable attachment means to the mower baseplate so the sill extends away at an inclined angle, and a safety wall 19 opposite the entry port extending in a flare converging with the channelled wall but terminating short thereof to form a discharge post 16. The bottom end 17 of wall 15 sweeps inwardly towards the centre of curvature to form a curved ledge 18 which progressively widens from port 12 to port 16, and prevents premature drop of cuttings before reaching port 16. A safety wall 19 to reduce the flight of stones &c. extends from the port 12 towards the surface of wall 15 in a substantially vertical plane, the rear edge 20 being arcuately curved and spaced from the surface 15 to allow passage of grass cuttings but to hinder passage of stones.
