Abstract

1,226,958. Trench-digging apparatus. J. P. PRUNTY. 16 Aug., 1968 [15 Aug., 1967], No 27640/67. Heading E1F. A trench-digging implement comprises a vehicle-mountable frame on which two or more laterally spaced, ground-slicing discs 12 are so mounted as to be freely rotatable thereon and one or more ploughing blades 25, the or each blade being so secured to the frame as to extend forward beneath and between the or an associated pair of discs to cause the forming of an open trench by the removal of soil from between the slices formed therein by the discs as the implement is moved over the ground. Refilling of the trench with a suitable material as the trench is formed is permitted by the discharge of such material from a hopper. The material passes from the hopper down a chute forming a rearward continuation of the or each share. Skids 21 are provided for regulating the depth of cut of the discs, which may displaced from one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the implement.
