Abstract

124,630. Bein, J. May 24, 1918. Magnetic compasses.-In a liquid type compass having a base 1 integral with the wall 2 of the casing, a cylindrical wall 7 having an opening or openings adjacent to the base 1. is provided to form an annular chamber into which air bubbles may pass; the pivot 10 is carried by a plug 9 which screws into a hole in the' base through which the easing may be entirely filled with liquid. The wall 7 may extend to the base 1 and have openings through it, or a diaphragm having openings therein may be provided above the base. The top of the casing 3 may have a downwardly projecting wall 4 formed with a flange 5 from which the wall 7 extends, and the glass 6 may rest on the flange 5 and be secured by a ring 8.
