Abstract

Mariners' compasses; marching compasses.- Liquid compasses are provided with means whereby a bubble appearing in the liquid may be readily removed and withheld from contact with the dial or glass. An annular downwardly-extending flange b, attached to the side of the compass box a, forms an annular chamber c, of approximately rectangular section, open at its lower side and surrounding the upper part of the box. The compass is manipulated until the bubble rises and enters the annular chamber, wherein it remains when the compass is restored to its normal position.
