186,427. Morris, A. June 29, 1921. Clinometers; magnetic compasses.-In a clinometer for aircraft &c., a base 1 with a longitudinal rib 4 is provided with vertical standards 2, 3 between which is freely suspended a semicircular member 8 graduated at its upper edge, a second semicircular member 11 secured centrally and transversely to the member 8 is graduated at its lower edge, and a third semicircular member 18 is freely suspended between the ends of the member 11. Inclination fore-and-aft is indicated by the position of the rib 4 in relation to the graduations on the member 11, and inclination laterally is indicated by the position of the member 18 in relation to the graduations on the member 8. An annular member 19 to which is secured a compass 20 may be braced to the member 18.
