1,245,231. Lubricants. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 Aug., 1968 [20 Sept., 1967], No. 42902/67. Heading C5F. [Also in Division C2] Lubricant compositions comprise a mineral lubricating oil and an additive which is an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing at least 8 carbon atoms and substituted by iodine or by iodine and chlorine, or is an ester of a fatty acid substituted by iodine or by iodine and chlorine. Preferably, the additive is soluble in the mineral oil. Conventional additives may also be present, e.g. in heat-stabilizers for the iodine-containing additive such as epoxidized oils.
