Lubricants comprise a mineral oil, 0À1-20 wt. per cent of a di-ester and 0À1-20 wt. per cent of a disulphide of formula E-S-S-F, where E and F are each alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl or ester substituted such groups, at least one of E and F containing less than 20 carbon atoms. Sulphides specified @ edi-n-butyl, di-cyclohexyl, diphenyl, dibenzyl and 2,21- (dicarboethoxy)-diethyl disulphide. Several examples of diesters are given.
