1296907 Lubricants BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 10 May 1971 [8 June 1970] 27593/70 Heading C5F An antioxidant composition for lubricants comprises 5-70 p.b.w. of 9,10-dihydroanthracene and 2-30 p.b.w. of a peroxide decomposing antioxidant (e.g. dialkyl or diaryl sulphides or disulphides, zinc dialkyl dithiophosphates and dialkyl thiodicarboxylates such as dilauryl thiodiproprionate). The lubricant may be a mineral or synthetic oil, e.g. a complex ester prepared from caprylic acid, 1,1,1,-trimethylol propane and sebacic acid.
