Abstract

1385026 Lubricants PAISLEY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY 15 May 1973 [18 Feb 1972] 38750/71 Heading C5F Diesters of the formula where R 3 -R 8 are C 1 -C 20 alkyl and R 1 and R 2 are H or C 1 -C 20 alkyl are used as lubricants, particularly for bearings. Additives such as free radical inhibitors, V.I. improvers, antioxidants and lubricant improvers may be incorporated. Specified additives are molybdenum disulphide and tri-fluoro-propyl polysiloxane. Many esters are specified, preferred being the diisobutyrate, dilaurate or 1-isobutyrate-3-hexanoate of 22,4-trimethylpentan-1,3-diol.
