Abstract

1284512 Lubricants OPTIMOL-OLWERKE GmbH 22 March 1971 7480/71 Heading C5F Lubricants comprise a mineral or synthetic base oil and 0À1-20 wt. per cent of an epoxidized ester of a C 10 -C 22 aliphatic acid. The epoxygroup may be present in either the acid or alcohol moiety and may be derived from a C 1 -C 18 mono- or poly-hydric alcohol. Many examples of such esters are given including epoxidized capric acid methylate, laurylate, geraniolate, pentaerythritolate and polyethyleneglycolate. The lubricant may also contain a dialkyl or diaryl dithiophosphate or a dialkyl dithiocarbamate of a metal selected from Pb, Sn, W, Mo, Zn, Nb, La, Sb, Bi, Cr, V and Cd and the reaction product of sulphurized terpene and/or sperm oil with thiophosphoric acid or phosphorus pentoxide. The synthetic base oil may be a polyglycol or diester (conventional examples given).
