Abstract

1,244,097. Tube mills; grinding cement. F. L. SMIDTH & CO. A.S. 29 June, 1970 [14 July, 1969], No. 35396/69. Heading B2A. In a dry grinding process in a tube mill driven by an electric motor a grinding aid is added to the mill in quantities which are automatically regulated in dependence upon the power consumption of the mill, being decreased as that consumption increases and vice versa. The grinding aid e.g. phenol triethanolamine or polyglycols may be added to the feed or preferably be injected in solution in water used as a coolant for Portland cement and from 0.01 to 0.05% by weight of the feed. The grinding aid may be added in two parts, viz: a first constant part or a part controlled in accordance with material feed rate, and a second part, not exceeding 30% of the total in reverse proportion to the power consumption of the mill. Dosing may be by a rotary or piston pump controlled by signals from the mill motor arcines signal representative of wear of the grinding bodies may be used additionally to control the dosing with grinding aid. The mill may be of the kind described in Specification 1,129,188.
