Abstract

1362954 Mining THYSSEN (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 10 July 1972 [24 June 1971 20 Sept 1971] 29770/71 and 43793/71 Heading E1F [Also in Division F1] In mining, waste material is mixed with bentonite and water to form a sludge and is. pumped to a location for use, the amount of bentonite being between 0.05% and 4.00% by weight or the total solids. The sludge is, mixed, with a setting agent and pumped into old workings or to the shuttering for a roof support. As shown water, waste and bentonite are fed to a hopper 10 and a crusher mixer 11, and the resultant sludge is pumped to the roof support shuttering 14. Before entering the shuttering the sludge is mixed with cement, water and an additive which may be gypsum or polyethylene oxide. The additive and cement may be added dry to sludge entering the shuttering. The shuttering may be moved at intervals in the direction of the arrow A.
