Abstract
1,243,384. Xerographic plate. RANK XEROX Ltd. 20 Sept., 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 44820/68. Heading H1K. A xerographic plate comprises a support, overlying the support an interface consisting of graphite and optionally a carrier liquid, and a photo-conductive insulating layer overlying the interface. The graphite interface serves as a barrier layer. The plate may take the form of an endless flexible belt and is made of brass, steel, aluminium or conductively coated plastics or an insulating support such as paper, rubber, cotton, flax, silk, glass fibre or plastics foam. The interface may comprise graphite dispersed in a volatile or non-volatile liquid, e.g. isopropanol, ethanol, naphtha, trichloroethylene, water, polyglycol, mineral, petroleum or castor oil. The interface is preferably no thicker than 20Á. The photo-conductive layer may comprise evaporated Se containing As, Te, Bi or halogens. Photo-conductors disposed in resins may also be employed, e.g. phthalocyanine in epoxy-phenolic resin, but many others are exemplified.
