1,242,785. Cyclic acetals. DYNAMT NOBEL A.G. 30 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968; 29 March, 1969], No. 27624/69. Heading C2C. The invention relates to cyclic acetals of the formula in which R denotes a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group, which may carry two hydroxyl groups. The compounds are obtainable by reacting dichlorodiphenylmethane with an appropriate polyhydric alcohol, preferably at about 100‹ C. in an inert solvent. Examples are given of the reaction of dichlorodiphenylmethane with ethylene glycol, neopentyl glycol and pentaerythritol.
