1305547 Imidazole derivatives SMITH KLINE & FRENCH LABORATORIES Ltd 26 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 13448/72 Divided out of 1305546 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula wherein X is hydrogen, amino, lower alkyl or lower alkylthio; n is from 2-5; R 1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R 2 is a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group containing from 1-6 carbon atoms or (CH 2 ) m Z where m is from 1-3 and Z is a phenyl optionally substituted by hydroxyl or halogen, imidazolyl, hydroxy, alkylamino, cyano or carboxy group or an aryl ether radical; and R 1 may, with R 2 , form a five membered ring with the adjacent carbon, nitrogen and sulphur atoms and " lower " denotes groups containing up to 4 carbon atoms are prepared either by reaction of an amine of Formula II with an appropriate reactant such as 2-methylmercapto-2-thiazoline or by reaction of a compound of Formula III wherein R<SP>3</SP> is equivalent to R<SP>1</SP> with a compound R 2 Y where Y is OH or Cl. Starting materials and intermediates are described in Specification 1,305,548.
