Abstract

1,241,810. Bleaching cellulose pulp. SUNDS A.B. 7 Nov., 1968 [9 Nov., 1967], No. 52784/ 68. Heading D1L. Pulp is introduced continuously into the top part of a cylindrical vessel, wherein it is recirculated and disintegrated by a rotary member in an atmosphere of an oxidising gas, and then forms a continuously descending column in the main part of the vessel. The gas pressure may be above, e.g. 5-20 kiloponds/cm<SP>2</SP>, or below atmospheric pressure. The gas may be added continuously. The rotary member may be rotated at 100-2,000 r.p.m. The ratio of the outer diameter of the rotary member to that of the pulp inlet opening may be 1-5. The rotary member may comprise fillets, the upper and/or lower edges of which may be toothed, or pegs. As shown in Fig. 2, it comprises a group of fillets 8 arranged radially (Fig. 3, not shown) or non-radially (Fig. 4, not shown) in a rotary disc 8 carried on a shaft 9. Alternatively, a plurality of groups of fillets may be spaced along the shaft. The rotary member may alternatively comprise vertical or horizontal pegs associated with similar stationary pegs as shown in Figs. 5 and 6 respectively.
