Abstract

124,157. Hodson, C. E. May 16. 1918. Pocket and like knives.-The handle of a clasp knife, pocket knife, &c., is formed by bending a strip a, Figs. 3 and 7, of metal so as to produce an S or multiple-U cross-section, the folds of the metal being adapted to receive pivoted blades. In a modification having only one blade, the portion of the handle adjacent the pivot consists of a single thickness of metal, while the rest of the handle is thickened by doubling over the metal, as shown in Fig. 6. The knife blades may be secured in their open and closed positions by a sliding bolt or by spring catches of various forms; or each blade may be opened by means of a lever p, Fig. 16, mounted on the blade pivot d and pivoted to the blade b at p<1>, the lever p being arranged to hold the blade firmly in its open position.
