Abstract

140,515. Crawford, A. E. Dec. 23, 1918. Pocket and like knives. - The blade B, pivoted in the sides H of the handle, turns with the pivot P, which has a squared portion p<2> engaged by an arm A slidable thereon, so that by turning the arm, the blade may 'be opened and closed. The arm A, which lies along the side of the handle as shown, may be slid to the right upon the pivot before turning it to open the blade, and slid to the left when the blade is fully opened; a stop p<3> or spring detent may be provided to lock the arm in both the open and closed positions of the blade. In a modification, the arm is circular in section and slides through a hole in the pivot; in a further modification, the arm A is arranged between the blade and the side of the handle and is provided with a thumb-piece, which may co-operate with notches in the handle to lock the blade in both the open and closed positions.
